Shizzy's Wildcat Rescue
Shazir Haque took a trip down to Carolina Tiger Rescue which is a sanctuary in Pittsboro, North Carolina for a project and met Nitro at Carolina Tiger Rescue. Nitro was a blind tiger living within the safe sanctuary of Carolina Tiger Rescue. Meeting Nitro changed Shazir's life forever. Nitro passed in the months following their first visit and the loss of Nitro pushed Shazir's inspiration to new heights.
We are working hard in the hopes to have our own facility to rescue wildcats and find ways to repopulate and save the near extinct tiger and also save habitats. In August of 2018, Shazir received the "keys" to a gorgeous 56 Acre property in Fair Bluff, North Carolina.
OUR FOUNDER
Shazir Haque started Shizzy's Wildcat Rescue in January of 2013. He graduated with an undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and went on to get his graduate degree in administration from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
He always had a passion for animals, particularly wildcats. When Shazir was younger, he always checked out books about tigers and lions and started to learn about big cats. As time went by, he realized all the threats that these animals faced and vowed to be their voice.
Shazir went for a visit to Carolina Tiger Rescue for a job shadow and his visit there was memorable to say the least. One animal in particular was heavy on his mind after leaving Carolina Tiger Rescue. A blind tiger named Nitro changed his life. Even though Shazir had just met Nitro, he felt a special bond with him. Nitro passed away in the months that followed his first visit. From that point on, Shazir knew he wanted to help wildcats and thought that he would start an organization after graduating college. After meeting Nitro, he decided it could not wait any longer.
Shizzy's Wildcat Rescue could be the solution to saving wildcats in the wild and also ending the abuse for wildcats kept as pets, used for props, forced to perform, photo opportunities, and much more.
Time is running out for the wildcats that remain on Earth, and hopefully, Shizzy's Wildcat Rescue can save them, but we cannot do this without your help. We encourage you to get involved by joining us and taking a stand for the last remaining wildcats.
OUR GOALS
We have set high standards for ourselves and have vowed to do things the proper way. Here are some of our goals that we can accomplish with your help!
- To develop a state of the art Sanctuary in Fair Bluff, NC on our 56 Acres.
- To raise awareness about the threats wildcats face in captivity and in the wild.
- To find ways to better protect wildcat habitats that still remain.
- To pass laws such as The Big Cat Public Safety Act which would stop the illegal buying and selling of big cats in captivity.
- To show people that voting with your wallet when going to the grocery store and supporting companies that don’t harm our planet is a great way to be a conservationist!
